Request an Appointment

To be eligible to have your cat(s) desexed through the programme:

  • You must hold a Community Services Card or Gold Card.  You will be asked to provide the card number when you drop-off your cat for surgery.
  • Your cat must:
    (1) Be between 10 weeks and 7 years of age;
    (2) Weigh more than 1.5 kg;
    (3) Not currently be nursing kittens; and
    (4) Have no known medical conditions that could make surgery unsafe (e.g. poor body condition, heart disease, respiratory illnesses, and skin rashes) or be a brachycephalic (short nose) breed (e.g. Persian, Himalayan, Burmese, British Shorthair).

The clinics run on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the year depending on the availability of staff and student volunteers.

Please register your cat and book your appointment using the form below.

IMPORTANT instructions for filling out the below form (please read thoroughly and refer to these as most issues and problems are explained below):

Step 1:

  • Select “Spay/Neuter Appointment”
  • Select your cat’s sex (male/female) and approximate weight (this does not have to be accurate).
  • Click on “Appointment Search”

Step 2:

  • Select an available appointment. Check back if one is not available as we release appointments often.

Step 3:

  • Fill out your information as directed. IMPORTANT TIPS:
  • Phone – you must either put in a cell/mobile phone OR home phone.  Put in only as many digits as fit.  You will have a chance to enter your correct number later.
  • Address – DO NOT use the “Type physical address…” square.  Address will be found, but it does not fill out correctly and will not allow you to proceed. Instead, go to the bottom and click on the “Enter Custom Address” square.
  • Address Info – Fill in your address information manually
  • Put in your Post Code where it says “Zip” and put in MA where it says “State”. It can be any combination of letters for your correct region, but we use MA for Manawatu.  You do not need to put in a country.
  • Once all info is filled out, click on “Animal Information”

Step 4:

  • Enter Animal Information as requested. Please ensure to put in your correct Community Service Card, Gold Card, or Massey ID number.  Please ensure you enter your correct contact phone number.
  • Once all info is filled out, click on “Confirm Appointment”

Step 5:

  • Click on “Add Package” and click on the package that pops up below.
  • Write any Notes you want to pass onto the team and click on “Request Appointment”

You will then be able to book additional pets if required without having to retype your personal information.

***Please note that once you have booked your appointment, if you do not show for an appointment, or cancel on the day, you will be UNABLE to re-book an appointment. This is due to a number of no-shows leading to a waste of volunteer time and resources.

If you have questions about the status of your cat’s registration, you can send us an e-mail at masseyspcasurgery@gmail.com and someone will respond within 1-2 business days.   Please DO NOT call the Massey University Veterinary Teaching Hospital as they will not be able to provide any information.
