About Us

HISTORY

The Massey-SPCA Desexing Clinic started in July 2017 as a partnership between the Massey University School of Veterinary Science and SPCA Palmerston North to provide low-cost desexing services to clients who cannot afford to have their cats seen at a regular veterinary clinic while at the same time giving veterinary students and veterinary technology students more hands-on clinical experience.

The clinics are entirely run by Massey staff and students who volunteer their weekend time to provide these valuable services to the community.   All procedures are performed in the surgical training facilities at the Massey University Veterinary Teaching Hospital.

SPONSORS

We are grateful to the following organisations for providing financial support that allows us to offer desexing services at a heavily discounted cost.

AWARDS

The Massey-SPCA Desexing Clinic was the inaugural winner of the Aotearoa New Zealand John Schofield Implementation Award in recognition of the positive impact the programme is having on the cats, the students, and the community.
