The Massey-SPCA Desexing Clinic offers the following services to clients who hold a Community Service Card, Gold Card, or Massey Student ID. All cats must be less than 7 years old with no obvious health problems that would make it unsafe for them to have the surgery.
DESEXING
MICROCHIPPING
All cats that are desexed through the programme will automatically receive a FREE microchip and FREE registration with the New Zealand Companion Animal Register courtesy of the SPCA. A microchip is a tiny device about the size of a grain of rice that gets placed under the skin between your cat’s shoulder blades. If your cat ever gets lost and is taken to an animal control agency, veterinarian or other rescue organisation, they can scan for the microchip number and have NZCAR get in touch with you to make sure your cat gets home safely.
CAT CARE ADVICE
It is important that your cat continues to receive routine health care and veterinary check-ups, even after the desexing surgery. This includes routine physical exams, vaccinations, flea treatments, and worm control. Although we do not offer these services through the Massey-SPCA Desexing Clinic, we can help you identify what your cat needs and find a local veterinarian who can provide ongoing care.
